The Grand Canyon (the McBurger, not the National Park)

So, I’ve been seeing the Grand Canyon Burger around for a week or two now. I walk by a Mcdicks on my way way to work and that succulent burger has been staring me down daily. There’s also a bunch of tv ads for it.

Anyways, the other day I relented and picked one up for dinner.
Now, Mcdonalds in Japan is quite a bit different than Mcdonalds back home (Canada). For one, the quality of everything is much better and I generally don’t feel like making myself sick after eating there. Unfortunately, as a result the food is more expensive as well.

So, back to my Grand Canyon Experience. I busted out some of my newfound japanese expertise and ordered a “grand canyon seto”. I got it home, took a look, and was borderline impressed. Obviously it didn’t look anything like the picture….

…but it still had all the pieces and they fit together nicely. The first bite was great and the rest of the burger was pretty excellent as well. They used a different style bun and included the middle bun (a la Big Mac) which was a nice touch. There were a few funky sauces in there which I wasn’t a huge fan of but all in all it was a pretty good experience (for what it was).

Now apparently there are a series of 4 burgers coming out (Las Vegas burger, LA Burger etc.) only in Japan. I’ll do my best to give them a try and report back.

Catch you Mclater,

Mitchell

Hey Mitch,

I know what you mean about the quality of mcdicks fare differing from country to country. I visited France a number of years ago and found their burgers to be of a far superior quality than those served in Canada (where I’m from). As a testament to the sketchiness here, a restaurant manager was recently beaten about the head with a bag of cheeseburgers by a less than satisfied customer.
